STAT+: Former AMA president says the U.S. health care system will implode without an overhaul
When artificial intelligence medical imaging company Aidoc asked Jesse Ehrenfeld to be the company’s new chief medical officer, he said no.
At 47, Ehrenfeld has already had a distinguished career: He was a commander in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps and served in Afghanistan. He was the youngest-ever officer of the Massachusetts Medical Society. And three years ago he became the first openly gay person and first board-certified clinical informaticist to serve as president of the American Medical Association.
In 2025, he was happy in his job as an anesthesiologist and dean at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
