Sign up for email\u00a0here<\/a>.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n AACR\u2019s big annual meeting began as usual with its large opening ceremony, but AACR CEO Margaret Foti\u2019s closing remarks were very much out of the ordinary. She delivered a condemnation of the Trump administration\u2019s actions on science and health policy in the past hundred days<\/a>. That included \u201cmajor funding freezes for leading research institutions across the nation\u201d and \u201cnumerous executive orders and other proposals that have the potential to irreparably damage NIH,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n AACR has long advocated in Washington for cancer research, playing a central role in organizing congressional briefings, demonstrations, and pulling together various groups to push for more funding for cancer science.
