NEW YORK \u2014 A federal judge in Texas removed a Biden-era finalized ruled by the\u00a0Consumer Financial Protection Bureau<\/a>\u00a0that would have removed\u00a0medical debt<\/a>\u00a0from credit reports.<\/p>\n

U.S. District Court Judge Sean Jordan of Texas\u2019s Eastern District, who was appointed by Trump, found on Friday that the rule exceeded the\u00a0CFPB<\/a>\u2018s authority. Jordan said that the CFPB is not permitted to remove medical debt from credit reports according to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which protects information collected by consumer reporting agencies.<\/p>\n
