Business focused data science

As a microbiology researcher, I’m far away from the business world. I do more -omics and growth curves and molecular techniques, but I want to move away from biology.<\/p>\n
I believe the bridge that can help me do that is data. I have got experience with R and excel. I’m looking at learning SQL and PowerBI.<\/p>\n
But I want to do it away from biology. The problem is, if I was to go from the UK, as a PhD microbiologist, and approach GCC consulting\/business analyst recruiters, I get the sense that they’d scoff at me for thinking too highly of my “transferrable skills” and tell me that I don’t have experience in the world of business.<\/p>\n
How would I get myself job-ready for GCC business-focused data science roles. Is there anyone out there that has made the switch that can share some advice?<\/p>\n
