WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was uncharacteristically chummy with pharma executives at the White House on Thursday as he cheered the Trump administration\u2019s plan for lowering obesity medication prices. Kennedy has railed against drugmakers in the past, and his lifestyle-focused \u201cMake America Healthy Again\u201d movement has opposed Medicare coverage of GLP-1 weight loss drugs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

But he struck a different tone in commenting on the president\u2019s deal to expand access<\/a> to the popular drugs made by Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, including for Medicare and Medicaid patients, calling it \u201ca momentous accomplishment.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a tool in the toolkit,\u201d Kennedy said in the Oval Office, with Lilly and Novo\u2019s CEOs standing nearby. \u201cIt is not a silver bullet. It is an arrow in our quiver.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
