WASHINGTON \u2014 During wide-ranging comments on technology Wednesday, deputy health secretary Jim O\u2019Neill demurred when asked about a controversial proposal to prevent states from enforcing local artificial intelligence laws.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ll evade, if that\u2019s alright,\u201d said O\u2019Neill. President Trump on Monday indicated in a Truth Social post<\/a> that he would sign a \u201cone rule executive order\u201d arguing that \u201cthere must be only one rulebook if we are going to continue to lead in AI.\u201d Earlier this year, a House bill that would have blocked state AI laws for 10 years gained momentum<\/a> before it was scuttled.
