UnitedHealth Group said Friday that the consultants it hired to audit its operations, including its practice of applying lucrative diagnosis codes to older adults\u2019 records, found they\u2019re not only \u201crobust,\u201d but \u201cindustry leading.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
While the reports give a veneer of transparency, government audits and independent analyses provide far less rosy views of UnitedHealth\u2019s operations \u2014 and contradict some of the consultants\u2019 latest findings. The consultants also make clear they are not attorneys and therefore cannot determine whether UnitedHealth\u2019s policies are compliant with federal and state regulations.<\/p>\n
UnitedHealth CEO Stephen Hemsley promised in June<\/a> to share the audit findings once they were complete.
