Beth Israel Lahey Health<\/a>\u00a0has long been the state\u2019s second-largest hospital system, the second biggest employer,\u00a0the second most fill-in-the-blank<\/a>. When compared to\u00a0Mass General Brigham<\/a>, owner of Massachusetts\u2019 two biggest hospitals, Beth Israel\u2019s place in the pecking order was always clear.<\/p>\n But Mass General Brigham has faced a number of challenges in recent years, from\u00a0losing its relationship with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute<\/a>\u00a0to a\u00a0unionization campaign<\/a>\u00a0by its primary care physicians amid discontent among wide swaths of its doctors.
